Sara Berki
As country music continues to surge in popularity, Sara Berki has emerged as one of the most exciting and prolific new voices in the genre. Raised on the sounds of classic rock and pop, it was in her teens that Sara started resonating with the songs and stories of country music. As Sara’s interest in country music grew, so did her appreciation of getting dirt underneath her fingernails, a strong work ethic and love of the outdoors instilled early.
Fast forward to March 2022 and the release of Sara’s debut single, ‘Fallin’ off the Heartline’, completely self-written and self-funded, as with all of her first ten independent releases. With it’s organic and traditional-leaning sound, it was equal parts fresh and familiar. It was clear from the get-go that Sara was going to be a leading voice in the renaissance of traditional country music in the mainstream industry.
More releases quickly followed, ‘Good Enough’, ‘Drinking for Free’ and then debut EP, ‘Heartline’ in early 2023. Every track making headway on the country airplay chart and receiving extensive support on streaming platforms. Sara rounded out the year with three more singles, “Favour”, “To Love A Cowboy” and the fan favourite “A Boy That’s Into Trucks”.
With a prolific writing and recording schedule and her engaging live performances, Sara quickly picked up bookings at many of Australia’s biggest country music festivals, including CMC Rocks (both in 2023 & 2024), Ridin’ Hearts Festival, Groundwater Country Music Festival, Gympie Muster, Meatstock, the Perth Muster as well as many rodeos and events around the country.
Sara reached new highs in 2024, following an invitation to perform at the iconic Gabba Stadium in Brisbane, for the opening round of the Brisbane Lions AFL Club season. Sara’s performance of the John Denver classic, ‘Take Me Home, Country Roads’ from the event was an instant hit when posted online, eventually achieving over twenty million combined video views across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and YouTube. The track made Sara one of the most viewed Australian country artists of this decade so far on YouTube, with the U.S, Germany, U.K, Canada and France, along with Australia ranking amongst Sara’s key territories for viewers.
In early 2024, Sara won the prestigious APRA Professional Development Award in the Country/Americana category (previously recipients include Gotye and Morgan Evans). Meanwhile, Sara had caught the attention of several record labels and eventually signed with Warner Music Australia by the middle of the year. The rest of the year saw Sara writing, recording and releasing two more singles in ‘Tear You Apart’ and ‘Twice’.
Sara kicked off 2025, with the release of the new single, ‘Looks Like’, which has become Sara’s fastest moving streaming track to date. The release was quickly followed by Sara’s first ever headline tour, taking in Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide, Melbourne, Newcastle and sold out shows in Wollongong and Perth. The tour featured Sara performing two sets per night, the first being an intimate acoustic set where Sara showcased new and unreleased songs in progress, the second being a full band set of her hits and more unreleased songs. In all, the shows included twenty-three original songs per night, a bold move for an artist just three years and twelve releases into their career but one that paid off night after night.
With dozens of songs written, a full release schedule ready to go, a loyal and growing audience and her first international trips in works, it is clear that Sara is ready to take her music to the world. As the Sunburnt Country Music blog noted, “with ‘Heartline’ and its successors it was about the songs; now it’s about the whole thing. The SOMETHING. And that something is star quality. She has it in abundance and she knows what to do with it.”
