Kat Edwards

Kat Edwards has swiftly emerged as a commanding singer-songwriter, carving out her distinctive ethereal indie-pop niche. Fresh off a national tour supporting Conan Gray with four sold-out shows including John Cain Arena, Kat captivates audiences with emotionally resonant lyrics and a hauntingly beautiful voice. Her dedicated fanbase continues to grow as she prepares to unveil her EP ‘Leaving Is The Kindest Thing’, promising no slowdown in her upward trajectory.

Since her debut in 2017 with the EP ‘Sunk’, Kat has steadily advanced in her career, culminating in a signing with BMG Australia. However, it was 2021 that truly shaped her path, with her single ‘Safety’ gaining widespread acclaim, including being featured as Triple J’s Feature Artist of the Week and listed in their ‘Ones to Watch in 2022’. Ticketmaster AU also recognized her as one of the Top 10 Breakthrough Artists of 2022.

Drawing inspiration from artists like Bon Iver, Phoebe Bridgers, and Julia Jacklin, Kat showcased her songwriting prowess with the release of EP ‘Best Bad News’ in August 2022. Her performances, enriched by personal growth and experiences, have graced stages at prominent festivals such as Falls and Party In The Paddock as well as the likes of Dodie, Conan Gray, Clinton Kane, Paul Kelly, Gretta Ray and Boy and Bear to name a few, each who enlisted Kat to open their respective tours.

Kat’s musical evolution extends beyond introspective melodies to include explorations of dark, ethereal themes and occasional up-beat indie-pop tracks. Now based in Melbourne, she anticipates the release of her third single of the year, ‘Damaged Goods’, and her upcoming EP, much of which was crafted in London alongside acclaimed songwriter/producer Dylan Nash.

As Kat continues to mature artistically and professionally, her 2024 releases underscore her growth, marking a self-assured new chapter both sonically and personally.

The thing about a Kat Edwards song is, there will always be a lyric or a note that will pierce straight to your heart and find a home.
