The Stamps

the stamps – Scarlett Graham, Rubina Bertolini and Sofia Hourani step into a new era with their new single ‘Slow Burn’, shifting from their folk trio roots to a dynamic, indie-pop sound influenced by heroes like Lizzy McAlpine, Ryan Beatty and Role Model. Mixed by the iconic Michael Brauer (Coldplay, Florence and the Machine, Ben Howard), ‘Slow Burn’ follows their AA-side ‘Alison’ / ‘Idea Of Us’ released in August – the former a cover of Slowdive’s classic track which earned kudos from the band themselves. Blending introspective lyricism with an indie-pop sensibility, ‘Slow Burn’ is an honest, contemplative song set against a backdrop of upbeat instrumentation and deftly executed harmonies that touches on the widely-experienced ache of playing phone tag with a friend separated by oceans, trying – and failing – to keep in touch. the stamps write coming-of-age songs and have the easy equilibrium in their songwriting that comes from being friends first, bandmates second. After becoming finalists in triple j Unearthed High and winning triple j’s Collab Comp to write with Methyl Ethyl, the stamps scored airplay on the station with tracks like ‘Seven Years of Bad Luck’ and supported Boy & Bear on tour. They just wrapped a national support slot with legendary UK artist Fink, played Queenscliff Music Festival, and will perform at NYE on the Hill this summer.
